I'm preparing to ship 2 Adult Frontosas from Michigan to Mississippi.

1 is 11 inches and the other is 7 inches....

I know that I must not feed them for 2-3 days prior to shipping.

So I have some questions....

1. How much water will they need in their bags?
2. What is the Best company to ship them through? (fedex or ups or will either one do)
3. Are O-Tabs okay to use and hoe many per bag will I need? (I haven't picked them up yet from the dealer)
4. Can the 2 Fronts be shipped in the same Box? (Recommended box size?)

Thanks for the all of the help.

Please, only provide advice if you are Successfully Expereinced in Shipping Large Fish, not fry... Thank you!

wow an 11 inch? how OLD is that guy? im guessing 6 years atleast lol. i hope he gets to the destination alright. good luck and sorry i cant help

Yeah, he is right around 6years ANSD I'v had him since he was about an 1.25" SO, I want to make sure that he arrives safely. I'm really nervous about it though...

Should I even consider shipping to a new buyer or should I just label the ad as "Pickup Only"?

I'm just wondering if it's too risky!?

I would not send that size especially if you have no exp....and you MUST send it UPS Next Day Air which you drop off at around 4pm and will get there 10am next day. You need a styrofoam box to be put inside a carboard box too. And the bigger the fish the more air it needs. Shipping would be about $150 minimum.

Im sure others on here will assure you its okay to ship....I just dont wanna know what happens later thats all

honestly bro i wouldnt bother shipping it out. 6 years old and 11 inches is a pretty sentimental investment and to have it die on an airplane really wouldnt do your effort justice. how much is the buyer paying for this thing?

Well last time that I spoke to a seller they said that anything 25lbs and under for lilve animals is about $60 through FedEx, overnight delivery... So even if it's 2 boxes, yeah that's $120... I was estimating that off of roughly 2-3 gallons of water per Fish. I would add O2 tablets as well!

Yeah, I'm nervous about it! They are like pets to me... Sounds stupid, but they're been around for some time now.....

Of course I know what you mean, remember that its 1/3 parts water and 2/3 parts air. Ive never done Cargo (airport to airport) but most Vendors will only ship large fish this way. Let this post sit for a few days before shipping I want more exp. Vendor or MFKers to chime in on this too.

The biggest Ive shipped was my Loisellei 5.5" Priority to Miss. I havent heard from the guy so IDK how it turned out. This was like 4-5 months ago.

That's good advice fro sure.... I'm on th verge of just telling the gentlemen that I've changed my mind on shipping... It just seems to risky... I'll wait to hear back from some more MKR's on this too.
