What do you guys do with your fish when you bring home a shipment? Just want to know the best way to introduce them to the tank and make them feel comfortable after a long trip.
Thanks

I turn off the lights and just let them settle in as they have been on a dark box for hours on end. I them quarantine for at least two weeks before they are introduces to other tanks unless their tank is already empty. I don't treat fish for diseases up front because I get my fish from reputable vendors and don't want to stress fish because of meds they probably don't need. I only treat know diseases. I however do soak their food in an Epsom salt solution for internal parasites. Hope all this helps.

I put them in a tank to quarantine, if at all possible (tank with mature sponge filter, fresh box filter, low light, some appropriately-sized PVC pipe and some salt and melafix).

No matter the source, adding new fish to a tank with other fish opens up all sorts of bad possibilities, both for the "old" fish and the new ones. It's a roll of the dice, otherwise.

An established QT tank is absolutly the best option. Make sure the temp. and the ph is as close as possibile before introduction to the QT tank. It's best to keep them isolated about 3 weeks before putting them in with other fish.
