Best wood / best value for wood tank?

Starting to plan a wood tank with 1 glass panel. There are so many types of sheets of wood to choose from. Looking for value above all. But it has to be up to the job as well. Anyone ?

Roughly 600 gallons with a 6x2 glass viewing panel.

I just use birch plywood. Smooth so it takes the epoxy well, and not full of voids. Should be able to get a good quality with a 7 fir plys or so for less than 50 bucks a sheet.
 
I was hoping to find something a bit cheaper then birch.
