hello
i have owned bettas multiple times beside my tanks in smaller containers
but they always die due to my colder house
how do i keep them warm so they dont freeze
a heater is out of my question due to the size of my beta bowls

Little betta bowls= cold temps...bad combo. I don't think there's any reliable way of keeping a small bowl warm unless the room temp is favorable.
How big are your bowls?.
I would suggest getting a bowl or a small tank of least 2.5 gal or a 5 gal.

Betta bowls, at least in the standard sizes, are not suitable homes for bettas, they originated as simply dislay containers for show and fighting bettas. If you do a bit of research you will find out that the early keepers of "fighting fish" used ceramic pots holding between 1 1/2 and 5 gallons of water to house them. The very expensive clear, small bowls were adopted after contact with eoropean traders (at first they were the Portuguese) and used for pre-match displays, as when two such containers holding males were placed side by side the fish they contained "flared" at each other.
As you have found, the miniscule portion of water that the bowls hold is not enough to provide stable temperatures and also lead to poor water conditions very quickly. If you must keep bettas in small, decorative containers I suggest you seek out either the 1 gallon brandy snifter type container or a 1 1/2 gallon flat type goldfish bowl. These are about minimum size needed to properly care for a betta sized fish.
To help maintain a stable temperature I suggest you seek out the place in your home that has the least drafts and temperature fluctuation. You may also wish to find one of the flat pad type heaters used for reptiles and made to stick to the outside of the bottom of a herp tank. These can be used by placing one one a trivet and covering it with a decorative tile. Then place your container on the tile. The mild warmth rising from the tile should help.
