well i didnt know i had any untill i was feeding the male today man there small what do i feed them and should i take the male out and the female is allready out

Hi. I suppose that your were not able to see the bubble nest of your betta. For first food, infusoria is recommended but this would need a few days to prepare. If infusoria is not available, you may try some green water from an existing tank or pond . Then it can be followed by newly hatched brine shrimp. Choose the San Francisco type which are smaller than the Salt Lakes type. Good luck.

i got some of the brine shrimp eggs and i did see the nest just never seen the female in or around it and ive read about the infusoria but i never really under stood how to grow it and as for the green water like a bucket of water from a lake then add some in?

To grow infusoria, fill a wide mouthed glass or clear plastic container with water. Add a piece of crushed banana peel, apple peel or crushed lettuce and set under sunlight. After a few days or so, the water will get turbid and stink a little and that's infusoria. Start the culture when you first see the bubble nest. Add a tablespoon or two to your fish tank each feeding but don't over do it. Same way for the green water until the fry can take the brine shrimp. Good luck.

Adding some green water to the fry will also help. I've raised betta's outdoors in green water a couple of times. I never fed them. Just had to net out small bettas :)
