Hey everyone,

For the past month my betta has been developing lumps on his cheeks, not gills, on his face and around his eyes. I’ve tried various treatments and I can seem to get them to go away. Does anyone know what this is? Doing water changes every week. Water parameters are in excellent condition. He’s in a 2.5 G. Right now I’m starting him on kanaplex, metro and focus to see if maybe thatll do something. Is this just tumors? He’s still active and eating. I’m a little confused and kind of worried its some crazy infection. Thank you all for your help.

Could be fish tuberculosis/lymphocytes or tumors
2.5 gallons is OKish but not great I would get a 10g+

How old is the betta? Some breeds can get problems as they age.
Define pristine water, what are the numbers?
Still behaving fine is a good sign.

Certain colour morphs are extremely prone to tumors, which appears to be the case here. Nothing you can do other than carry on and let him live out the rest of his life.

And a 2.5gal is just fine provided it is properly heated, filtered, and has regular water changes.

+1
My daughter had one of the specialty type bettas and the exact same thing happened to hers. The tumors got to a point that we had to cull it.
