My daughter has a Betta in a common 1 gal. betta set up. we have been doing a complete water change once a week, replacing it with our well water and adding a pack of the betta water treat stuff we buy from Walmart.
My question is, would it be better to replace the water with water from my larger tank when I do my weekly water changes? Or should I keep doing what we have been doing?

i'd keep doing it the way you are but i'm not sure if well water really need water conditioner because it's not really treated with any clorine or cloramine is it? also it should have some sort of filter to keep the water from going stagnant.

No, it's not treated. It's tests ok. What kind of filter could I put on a 1g?

sponge filter or an inline air hose filter from walmart

I have well water and don't use any conditioner unless I have a fish that has split/torn up fins, then I use stress coat. That's the nice thing about well water, it doesn't have extra chemicals in it.

betta will do better in a tank at least 5 gal plus will be easy to filter and heat.

100 water changes are not good for a fish try 50 twice a week.

I was just going to add that, yes a betta can live in the 1g ok....but if you could get him a 5-10g he would be so much happier and his personality will come out more. They do so much better in a tank with a heater and filter, they really do. They have the silliest personalities and it will come out so much more with some room to move around, believe me you will enjoy him so much more if you got him a bigger tank and some plants, hiding spots or something along with a heater and filter. You could even add a couple cories in there with him or a snail or two.:)

I would add a small corner box filter or something like that, the full wc's aren't good in the longterm
