The Moon
so i was looking at my cd racks on my computer desk and decided that they were boring, the trays that hold the cds are removable, and my genious brain said omg put a tank in there.

Filtration may be possible because there is a spot were a hang on and "hang on" but the tank inself would have to be like 6 inch by 4.5 inches by 10 or 11 inches tall giving me something like 1.26 gallons.

This tank looks like it would be really tall but those cds are really boring. Would this be adequate for a betta? is there anything else i could put in it??? I would be able to do water changes everyday and am considering putting a plant on top. Of course i know i still have to feed it.

If you're doing daily water changes, filtration isn't necessary. The plant will only help your case, IMO. Also, I'd opt for a shorter tank to better distribute oxygen within the water column. Again, this problem can be alleviated through an air stone, so the choice is really up to you. But yes, the tank seems ideal for a betta.

If you only have 1.26 gallons I would stick with just a betta. I wouldn't put more than one fish in that small amount of water. As far as the betta itself...dragons are pretty freakin' awesome! :nilly:

A betta doesn't need filtration, but needs at least weekly water changes. Use a Betta water conditioner, such as Attison's.

well i found a flat glass vase at a craft shop but it was too skinny i want the betta to have the maximum swimming space. im gonna go to home depot when i get a chance. but thank you for answering my questions

IMO this is not a good set-up for a betta. They need a heater and a minimum water temp of at least 74 degrees to have a good, healthy life. However, you should be ok without a filter if you're doing frequent water changes. Make sure you cover the tank!!!

I've had good luck with apple snails in a small betta tank, but I think I have a really, really Ghandiesque betta.

can we see pics of what you are doing.

Remember fish tanks have water in them. Computer desks have electronics. Water and electronics don't mix. Keep this in mind when you think about mixing the two.
