Been out of the betta game for a while, took care of a few of my sisters but never had my own, so I got some questions. What kind is this, it was just labeled male and 5 bucks
In a filtered 5 gallon rn with a few live and fake plants, just stuff I picked out of my 60 gal, including the water. It’s got one nerite snail and two ghost shrimp too. I’d say that’s pretty stocked but I may push the limit with maybe another shrimp or something small. But just wondering how much to feed and the w/c and how I should make the betta more active. Rn it’s shy so not expecting much till it settles, I feed it 3 betta pellets but I gotta crush em cause it can’t take em whole. Should the tank be heavily filled with hides and plants cause rn it’s just a few hides and a fake plant and a living plant I grabbed from a bigger tank along with some marbles I put in to entertain it. Thanks
Pictures bad cause it’s with a phone and it’s shy

It sounds like you're on the right track. Snails and shrimp generally won't add much pressure to your filter so don't worry too much.

I've never seen my betta use a flowerpot hide or play with marbles when I had him. Just hid in plants or behind rocks, but was generally inquisitive and active.

Hope this helps :)

Hello; I like to keep bettas at around 80 degrees F with a fairly tight cover. It seems to me the air above the waters surface needs to be warm and moist.
Snails and a male betta. I had one years ago who was death on snails. He would stalk them and then lung in for a bite. These were mystery snails and he eventually wiped them all out.

Here’s the current setup, I keep the temp at 78 degrees F
Little barren rn, I’m not sure what to add more structure or more plants. I’ve got a fake plant until the real ones grow in so it would be even less barren
Also still trying to ID what kind of betta it is as I bought it unamed but it wouldn’t really flare for the camera so bad pics (not sure what color or tail type)
