Betta Splendens compatibility with these fish:

I have a ten with a Gold Nugget Plec, two Gold Barbs, two cherry barbs, and a couple Neons. I want to move my betta from my 1 gal at work to this nice planted tank. See any problem?

I think the barbs are fin nipers...... which would be bad if you are a slow, big fin fish.

I think Gold Barbs and Cherry Barbs are too timid. Anybody else?

I would be worried about overstocking that tank. Give the GN his own tank. Ewurm, he's so nice he DESERVES it. Then put the rest of the fish in their own tank.

I could give the GNP his own tank but why? He is only 3" with tail. I could pull the Gold Barbs, they are the biggest fish in the tank. The params are all good.

Its mainly the barbs you have to worry about bothering the betta,keep an eye on them,but it could work it has before

Depends on the personality of the betta. My betta even attacks the snails in his 2.5 gallon tank. You could divide the tank temporarily and see how he reacts to the other fish, maybe he will get used to them and then you could take the divider out. I have seen bettas in some pretty crazy setups.

I dropped him in tonight, is getting along famously so far. I was more worried about him getting nipped at. No one seems to mind him.
