my mom just got rid of all her old beanie babies...and had 10 plastic cases left over... i saw at my pet store they have betta fish in what looks to be the same containers top on and all... my question is... is this ok to do?... besides for gravel do i need anything else? what do i do about cleaning them.. i plan on putting 5 individual ones across with a light from an old 10 gal. tank above them... any suggestions?

Frequent water changes, light feedings and they work well.lots of breeeders use them. Not too much light or youll get algae.Bettas are best viewed when lit from the front anyway.I have 24 of them I burned a hole in the side for a drain and semiauto 50% daily waterchanges.

Well it is still a living fish, so yes you will need some way to convert toxins.

if i were you i would get a few 10-20g tanks, get some thin pieces of glass or something of the like(preferable dark so the fish cannot see each other ) and divide the tank up several times giving each fish the same swimming area. Drill some small 1/16'' holes in the dividers and stick a small filter in the middle. That way you have a manageable, filtered and healthy betta tank(s).

Yes you need to treat the water and age it. Get a couple of 1gal jugs , fill and treat the water to dechlor it, then let it set for 1-3 days without a top (an air stone would be great in each jug). When the first one is empty refill & dechlor it and put it to the back to age and use the next one This way you will always have aged water ready.

Do 50% water changes every other day and don't cover the top of the containers.

Remember to post to pix.
