this is an older betta. I waited for the fin to regrow, but it hasn't.
having a short stubby fin on one side, and the other normal length is making it hard for him to swim with good directional aim, especially toward food at the surface. he works hard & his spine curves around to get to his pellets in a loop-de-loop way.
I turned off his tiny bubbler because of current.
SO am thinking about snipping his longer fin off to more closely match the short one. he doesn't have a fit young physique & this crooked swim-stroke looks hard.
Any input as to whether this is a horrible or good idea?? I'm not thrilled about snipping, but he struggles swimming with scoliosis ;-)

IDK. Suppose you cut the fin and it can't swimm at all? What are you going to use nail clippers?

I also wondered if he might not be able to swim, or not swim as well as he can now :-/
there is "some" fin on his short side. was thinking, maybe start by only snipping 'some' of the long one off & not go right for equal length- just less of a struggle.
his pec fins are normal, they should help him swim- que no?
started weighing thoughts bcuz his body is losing condition. he kind of looks discouraged

Nail clippers. thank you, but I'm fond of hedge trimmers. Used ones smell good
;-) IME, from their previous excellent work on evergreens.

Haha you funny! Try trimming a little, don't go all in right out of the gate.

;)
yeah, I'm still thinking it over.
was curious if anyone had experience addressing these kind of lop-sided fins.
