I have a 20G High with 4 multies, they have bred, I have about 6 fry in there as well. Also have a Betta splendens in a tiny bowl (Easter gift). I don't like keeping Bettas in such a small bowl, it's probably about a quart at most. Is it a bad idea to put it in the 20H with the multies? If so, I can get a larger container for the betta. Whaddya think?

IMO just get a larger tank for the Betta you will be happier in the long run.
I used to keep a male Betta in a 5 gallon tank without any trouble. (Keep up weekly water changes though)
He would always have half of the top of that tank covered in a bubble nest, and It would kill me to destroy all his work when I did water changes, but you must keep it clean!

People don't keep the larger tanks as clean as the little bowls in my experience, and that is a sure fire way to kill your Betta.

I wouldn't try to combine the two.
Betta are just to finicky and I am unsure that they would get along.

Strangely enough I was in the same situation.. I was given a lovely crowntail betta, put him in a fry trap floating in a small tank I had running with multi fry growing on.

One day I came home to find the fry trap had sunk & the betta was swimming in with the multis.
I decided to leave it to see how it worked out.

All was fine as the betta stuck to the top & the multis stayed near the bottom. Until they got to about 3/4 inch.

Then my poor betta got an awful beating..

They started to gang up on him & he was restricted to a tiny corner near the top of the tank.

So I obviously removed him & wouldn't recommend this mix.

yeah I have tried this too and my multies ganged up on the Betta and beat him up pretty bad. He is now living peacefully in his own tank. I wouldn't recommend the mix to be honest
