Between a rock and a hard place: Medication, salt and plants

Hello planted tank enthusiasts,

This has probably been covered before, but I need some quick help deciding what to do with my tank. I've got a 55 gallon planted community setup right now, and I just added 9 quarter size discus today. I had some guppies that I used to ensure the tank was established, and I noticed just earlier that one of the guppies has lesions on his side. He's swimming and breathing laboriously, and I doubt he's long for this world.

My question is this. What do I do?!?!

Can plants handle medication? Can they handle salt in their water? The whole tank potentially has this correct? What would be the least obtrusive steps to take to not harm the other fauna/flora?

Euthanize the guppy, and watch diligently for a re-appearance of the said lesions on any other fish. If it is contagious, then I would try a medication. Most meds are plant safe,

I wouldn't medicate your tank over 1-2 guppies. If it were me I would just net that guppy out and flush him. Why medicate and disrupt your tank possibly weakening the plants and stress your Discus that are a lot more important then 1 inexpensive guppy.
