I have 2 males blue genes and I found some females locally. They are 5-6". Some one told me I should keep both males and let a female choose her mate. And then the other male would help the pair bond as they have some one to go against. (They would be divided. But my tank is only 55.

I could do that, or trade and get a female hoping they breed or I could get 2 females and find a pair then sell the other 2. I need some advice. Thanks

Well first off I am not a expert on any fish but I have done a lot of research on EBJD, BGJD, and Platinum jacks because I have some EBJD I am trying to breed.. IMO it really depends on if you are trying to breed them for profit or just for your self.. If you only want 1 breeding pair them yes put both males in with the female and let her pair off with who she wants to, but once they do pair off take the other male out of the tank.. It may work with him in the tank but most the time it will stress the pair out so much they will not breed... Now if you want more then 1 breeding pair you can keep the other male in a different tank until some of the fry grow up from the first breeding pair and put some females in with him and they will breed as well... I must say good luck my friend because they are not as easy to breed as regular Cichlids...

Okay. I would have the other male in a divided portion. But I think it may be better if I get some dithers if the pair isn't too aggressive.

Any suggestions on good dithers? Guppies, mollies, tetras?
