BGK and ABKs

Hey all,
my professor for my ichthyology class picked up 2 4"ish ABKs for a demonstration for the class and said that i could have them when we're done. i'm planning on ordering a 4-5"BGK for my 55g which will also have some gouramis (blue, gold). would the BGK and ABK get along? i know each fish is different and that when young, ABK like to be in groups but not when older. i will be getting a 90g to upgrade when the BGK gets bigger.

BGKs really don't tolerate most other Knives that put out any electrical pulses. Even with the EOD frequency adjustment, most just seem to not get along.

alright thanks, i've read that some have kept them with elephantnose fish, which i know are also electric fish. i guess if there are problems i suppose i'll try to trade them for store credit at the lfs

Yeah, I have my ABK with an elephant nose and they're doing fine.

Oh, and another thing, an BGK would end up outgrowing a 55 anyway. They get two feet long--clearly too big for a tank that's only a foot wide.

cool, thanks for the reply, and no worries, i know about the BGK outgrowing the 55g i have about 2 more months left at college and anything more than a 55 wouldn't really be feasible (people already think i'm crazy with how big it is, even though it's small compared your all's tanks, haha) but from my understanding, it take BGKs awhile to outgrow the 55g so i should be fine. thanks for the heads up though
