I have 3 pretty big angels (About 6 inches from the top of their fins to the bottom) in a tank with 4 black skirt tetras, 2 red serpae tetras, 2 bleeding heart tetras, a 3 inch Chinese Hi-fin Banded Shark, an albino rainbow shark, a regular rainbow shark, three 1.5 inch yoyo botias, and a butterfly pleco in a 65 gallon tank. Would it be alright to have a black ghost knifefish in it?

Thanks!

should be ok as long as you have a hiding spot for it. black ghost knifefish really only have problems with fish that can eat it, fish it can eat, or other BGK's, but i dont think your tetras will have a problem.

Will the angels be alright? Will the angels pick on the black ghost knife?

What size is the tank? Your tank sounded overstocked, not to mention some fish are incompatible with each other. What is the scientific name of your butterfly pleco? Are you referring to the hillstream loaches (Beaufortia kweichowensis)?

Will the three 1.5 inch yoyo botia be alright or will they get eaten by the black ghost knife?

What size is the BGK you're buying? You still haven't answered my previous questions.

I have a 65 gallon tank. Which fish are incompatible with each other? Here's a link to a website with info on the butterfly pleco. http://www.aquariumlife.net/profiles/asian-loaches/stingray-pleco/100153.asp

As to the size of the BGK, I'm not sure yet. I'm just figuring out if I should get one or not.

Hillstream loaches are not plecos. These are loaches of the Balitorinae genus and prefer cooler waters therefore these are not compatible in your tank. They prefer a setup with powerful currents, cool waters, and smooth rocks to glide around. I would recommend reading the article section of www.loaches.com for more information about hillies.

Chinese hifin banded sharks are another fish you must get rid. Not only are they temperate species that thrive best in groups, but these also reach 3 feet in size and despite the slow growth rate, these are still something not to consider in private aquaria.

Serpae tetras have the tendency to nip long-finned specimens such as angelfish. Keep a watch for this behavior and should they nip, consider isolating them in a spare tank.

Yoyo loaches are fast growers reaching 6 inches in maximum size. They will not pose a problem with the sharks but they will harass your angelfish nipping their fins out of curiosity more than aggression. These are very boisterous fish and the hillies will certainly be unable to apprecate it.

Black ghost knives are out of the question for a 65g. These are predatory fish and will prey on your tetras and loaches.

K thanks for the info! I didn't know that the "Butterfly Pleco" was a loach; that's interesting because it just sucks on the glass all the time. I've had the yoyo Botias for a few days now and they haven't done much but hide in plants and stuff, only coming out on occasion.
