would i be able to keep a couple, or even a few mormyrids (elephantnose and or a "dolphin" species) with my BGK. trying to make a nice oddball set up but dont know if that would work. its a 75 gallon, so, an elephantnose might be a bit big but, opinions please. super wierd oddball suggestions also welcome

my elephant turned up dead and half eaten. he was in a 55 gal with a bgk, royal clown and clown. they were all about the same size (4-5 inches). the elephant was just kind of passive. it might work for you.

if your bgk is passive and they are the same size then you should be fine, my bgk is super passive and doesnt bother anyone and he is the second biggest fish in the tank lol iv never had an elephant nose but i have seen vids of peoples tanks with both these fish in them and didnt seem to have any problems (of course you cant really tell that from a short vid or how long the peace lasted.....)

BGKs act territorial towards other electric fish, especially those that look them.

I'd watch over your combination, but it might work. Also, if you're going to get more than one mormyrid, you need to get six. The most prominent fish will pick on the others in smaller groups. (Even between species...)

oh sorry didnt realize elephants were electric then yes it probably wouldnt be ok do have them in same tank, same reason not to have 2 bgk general rule is to not have more than 1 electric fish in tank together (there are exceptions of course but these really are the EXCEPTIONS and not the rule most likely it wont work)

The rule is more like "be careful when putting electric fish with BGKs."

I have three electric fish in my 46, and there's never been any fighting.
