I was gonna add some salt to my tank, but I wanna make sure my BGK and pleco will be Ok with iit and wont die. Plus got soem plants and wanna know if those would be Ok as well. Please let me know if its ok. The salt wont be in there indefinitely, its just for a salt treatement on one of my other fish, plus the pleco has some minor wounds, so I felt it could benefit as well. Thanks

How much salt???

how much salt in how big of a tank?
small doses shouldn't have adverse affects

55 gal tank, and the recommended dose of 1 tablespoon per 5 gal. Although I may use a bit less so it isnt as harsh on the plants and BGK/Pleco. But will they be able to tolerate any at all?

What was the problem with your fish that you would add salt? Minor injuries are treated fine by water changes. Your fish will tolerate salt. Dissolve before adding.

If anything, I would go with 1 tsp per 10gal, you are working with technically "scale-less" fish (armor doesnt count when osmotic regulation is considered), and just like any medication, you should halve or quarter it for these particular fish.

agreed, and with lupin. I would go about 1/4 dose just to play it safe.

Well, I think I am gonna use 5 TEAspoons for 55 gallons. Also, I know the salt doesnt evaporate or filter out. So with water changes and the salt being reduced with each, is there any way to have 0 salt ever? Or once its added theres gonna be trace amounts always?

i just used aquarium salt to treat a tankfull of half dead goldfish my family brought back from the state fair.... wich included a large common pleco and german rams... treat the tank as intended and after 5 days do a 25 to 50 percent water change

Cool, I am gonna add the salt in a bit. In a few days I will do a 25% water change, then add a little more salt, and repeat for maybe 2 weeks and see how that goes. I just did a water change last night too.
