Greetings!

I am looking for advice on acquiring a young black ghost knife. I am establishing a new 40 gallon (US) tank with a Synodontis (featherfin catfish, he's quite large, maybe 6 inches). I've inherited the Synodontis; he used to live with an Oscar. He occasionally chases other fish, but never nips or bites. I'm very interested in the BGK, and would like to house him with the Synodontis and maybe a couple of Gouramis. Within a year, I intend to upgrade to a 75 gal (US). Do you think a small BGK will be ok/compatible with the catfish? What is your experience with successful tankmates for BGKs or featherfins?

Thanks!

I've had my featherfins with medium sized cichlids in five- six inch range and pleco about eleven- twelve inches long. There is going to be conflicts if the cichlids spawn, otherwise they are good together.

how small is small? the BGK is also territorial but not to the point that it will kill for its territory:) I think it would work fine...even same type of fish have different attitudes:naughty: sometimes its like gambling:WTF:

should get on fine as long as there is not too big a difference in size as the syno may stop the bgk coming out for food if he is too boisterous

I would get the bigger tank before getting the bgk. too many times it seems like intentions are there and things don't necessarily pan out. do yourself a favor and get the tank ahead of time
