So the BGK is about 4 inches and theres 10 close too fully grown barbs in the tank with him. The last couple of feeding times the barbs have been more interested feeding on the "the large black worm" rather then the bloodworms. I've since put the Knife in an 20 tall that was empty and now full of fake wood and black pvc pipes.
My question is has anyone else had this problem with small Knife fish and semi aggressive schooling fish? Am I better off returning the knife as he'll be stuck in that 20 for a while? My next big tank wont be around for a yr or so and I'm sure he wont be happy in there that long and I'll be a bit worried about putting him back in the grow out tank in the short time it'll take him to outgrow the 20. Thanks guys (and girls)

Tiger Barbs are known for being fin nippers especially with fish with long fins and I'm pretty sure the unusual motion of the Knife fish looks interesting enough for them to nip as well. I would return him and wait. I've had my BGK with Serpae Tetras which I heard could be fin nippers as well, but there were a few that ended up with 1 eye and I couldn't figure it out until later that I think my BGK is an eye gouger.

Mine are fine together, I have 3 tiger barbs, and they keep to themselves.

Well I ended up selling him on CL. Guy said he had an in the works 200+ gallon so its a good home. I think his size of the BGK and the number and size of the barbs was a bad mix in retrospect. He didnt seem to have the fight in him to take on that many. They were getting him pretty good during day feedings but he refused to stay hidden. Then he still ate at night. O well. thanks 4 the advice.

great sign btw ^^^
