Hi all,

My BGK has been clicking loudly for the last few days (with short breaks here and there), there's no signs of stress and he is eating well.

I recently added a small bichir who almost choked on one of the small stones I have mixed with my sand so I decided to remove the substrate and go bare bottom. I thought that might have set him off but I have added the case of a large internal filter to the tank so he can be surrounded by something but he's still clicking away!

Any idea's of what may be going on with him? Can you have a bare bottom tank with BGK? Was the sand insulating the sound of the clicking that may have been there all along? :nilly:

This is very interesting. What size is it?

You can certainly have a bare bottom tank with BGK, I do and mine is flourishing, it's around 10" and maybe put on 3" in almost a year

Check your heater. It might be reacting to something electrical.

I was thinking the same thing, these fish emit an electrical current so stray voltage may be causing it. I never heard mine click.

My old BGK would click during feeding time.

Thanks for the replies, I turned the heater off and almost instantly the clicking stopped so I replaced the heater and all is fine.
