whats the growth rate of a bgk? i noticed that my bgk really grows slowly, because my 2 bichirs are much bigger now than my bgk, maybe because of their appetite? what food is best to feed my bgk for good growth rate? thanks for your advice hehe

BGK are pretty slow growers. Feed it high protein (bloodworms, beefhearts, earthworms, etc). It might help it grow a bit faster.

ahh no wonder, i guess they aren't like bichirs who like "gobbles" up the food the moment i chuck it in the tank hehe. lets say in a year how many inches does a bgk grow?

BGK's are very slow growing fish...at least when compared to the usual 'monsters' we normally see on MFK.

You'll be lucky to get 6" out of a year's time.

wow 6" in a year? hmmm what's the estimated life span of a BGK? since its part of the ancient family of fish can it really live long? how long if taken care and fed properly?

I think some here on the forum has had one for 11 years now.

i've had mine for probably 3 years and it's only about 10". my fish always grow slow for some reason, though. probably cuz i have only recently started to do frequent, large water changes and never feed a whole lot.
