givin your average conditions, how fast should me bgk grow?? It is in a 55 with a couple other medium size fish, and i do weekly water changes with all params good nitrate at about 10-15 (got lots of watersprite)

O and the 55 in my sig is the tank he is in minus the gouramis, and the female con

no no problem there, he will be groing in my 55 till he hits a decent size then he will be tossed into the 518

No but someone did it originally came from the '86 World Expo in Vancouver B.C. Canada, it was used to shoe of some native saltwater species. Somehow it ended up about 45 minutes and a ferry ride away, in Port Mellon, which is about 5 minutes from me, and i saw it in a local paper for free advertised as a 400 gallon tank. Needless to say i snatched this sucker up and got a free case of beer for gettin it out of the guys shed (i kinda feel sorry for him he didn't know what he had).

I gave it a good cleaning and a re-seal, put a pondliner onto the bottom to seal it (had a steel bottom which aslo doubles as the top of the stand. It is on 4 huge steel casters so you can move it around (weighs about 1500 to 2000 pounds empty) still can't move it when it is full but why would you want to. Now it holds water fine, and i built a canopy for it with 4 of the 2 buld 48inch flourescent tube light ballasts. Put an overflow over the hole drilled in the bottom for my sump, and will be buying 1 fluval FX5 to start and another when the fish i put in it get bigger, as well as a 2000GPH pump for my sump and a few big heaters and it will be good to go.

So far i have about $150 - $200 into it in total, and will be pending another probably $500 so it worked out pretty good about $700 for a complete running 518 gallon tank. (i actually think it is closer to 550).

They grow pretty slow on average. Maybe an 1/2" a month...if that.

no not right now i can get some tho, it is actaully sitting outside and not full

My little bgk is growing super fast. Almost an inch already and I've only had him a month. So I guess it all depends on what you feed and water quality/tank size etc. I've heard they grow slowly, but mine isn't....:grinno:

My BGK went from 3 inches to over 9 inches in less than a year.
He is not only getting long, but he is really filling out as well.
Just a big solid boy.
