I have been using a ph regulator to keep my ph at 6.5 but I want to stop. Will my BGK be ok in my regular tap water (7.8 ph)? Anybody keeping their BGK in water that is as or more alkaline?

yup mine bgk is in a tank with about 7.0 to 7.5 ph . acclimate very slowly should be okay i think

That makes sense cuz I read in a sticky that 7.5 is the highest ph they should be kept in, but mine will be 7.8. I know its pretty close to 7.5 but I just wanted to be sure.

As long as it's not extremely Alkaline, it should be fine. The commonly available Knives are all pretty hardy.

Thanks. I had heard that knives were hardy, but I just wanted to be sure as most websites seem to give a range of 6.0 to 7.5 for them.

i know that my ph out of the tap is around 7.8-8 and i dont add anything for ph buffering........acclimate slow and keep your water clean

If you are worried about your ph put some peat in your filter to keep you ph down that is what some of the Discus people use to keep their ph lowered with using buffer.
