would a medium sized BGK go well in a semi agressive cichlid community? severums, true parrot, small pike and acara, anyone? theres a nice one at my local lfs, need to know if i should go get him right now or not
Yes, I would try it. Most of those cichlids aren't particularly aggressive, especially not to different-looking fish. If anybody's particularly nippy they might pick at the BGK's tail, but otherwise it should be OK. About what size are your cichlids, and the BGK you're looking at?
well, i went and got him, or her i suppose, its about 6 inch BGK, and everything is fine, none of the other fish are even paying attention to it, i guess they dont view him as a competitor, very exited, ive always wanted a BGK. pics tomorrow right now hes getting used to everything, slowly movingaround the tank, he found his ghost house i put in there, but prefers my log instead so, VERY good times
thats awesome yeah i plan on putting my bgk with some quite aggressive cichlids (festae, green terror, and carpinte pair) im growing him out now though before i even get the others so that he will be bigger than them and the first into the tank, hes also going to have lots of hiding places so hopefully it will all work out if not ill just have to find a tank where he can be to himself but yeah it mainly depends on the individual fish if they are picky or especially intolerant of other fish (but then that fish would prolly kill all tankmates and not just bgk lol) but yeah you just got to keep eye on it, GOOD LUCK they are awesome fish!!
