Hey guys...I have a ten gallon planted aquarium and a 75g reef aquarium.

Recently I got the basics for the reef upgrade into a 125, and loving my plants as I do, was thinking that I might upgrade my planted tank into the 75, adding pressurized co2 and what not.

Who thinks that a BGK would be a good inhabitant? Any suitable tankmates? Remeber they would have to be plant friendly. Thanks ahead of time

BGKs are pretty good in planted tanks. BGK can be pretty mellow so most tank mates would be fine as long as they aren't too aggressive or too small to eat. However, I did have a 7" BGK with 1"-1.5" Tetras.

:iagree: BGKs do fairly well in a planted tank. ;)

I really want a clown...the thing is I will never be able to have a big enough tank. :(
The knives have always amazed me, hopefully soon I can gain some personal experience.

Were they freaked out by the high intensity lighting? How did you provide cover for them? Just with a tube? Or were the plants enough.

I heard they are picky water quality wise...any words of advice? Thanks

Make a cave out of driftwood or stone. If you're going all out with a nice planted setup you don't want PVC pipe ruining the look.

I have a large piece of driftwood with a arch in the middle. So it allows me to still see it while it's undercover.

BGK require a planted tank imo, he will love it. For mine I used a PVC pipe but I put it under a rock cave I made so you can't see the pvc. Be prepared for him to possibly be completely nocturnal. Mine only comes out of the cave during the day to re-adjust himself. Some floating hornwort and/or cobomba should help shade the tank.

Well...even though it is nocturnal by nature, in captivity, they will venture out during the day. Mine actually is active during the day, but only when the lights are off and there's no direct sunlight hitting the tank. Pretty much as long as it's dim.
