I'm getting a BGK on Thursday, they're only about 2 inches long so I'm keeping it in a 30 gal until it gets bigger and I can move it into the main tank. Does anyone have any advice for me? feeding, tank setup (I know they like places to hide) and do they need feeders as adults? Thanks

Growth rate seems to vary greatly, dont expect more then 5-6" in the first year and then maybe a couple inches a year there after. Frozen blood worms are great, sinking shrimp pellets or other sinking pellets, frozen brine and chopped up earthworms. They will come out to feed in the light, but eat best if you feed right before lights out. They need a place to hide throughout the day and do well in a heavuly decorated tank to explore at night.

Provide lots of decorations to hide in. They grow very slowly, especially when they hit the 6 inch mark or so, like the other poster said. Mine eats flakes, wafers, frozen foods, and nibbles on vegetables occasionally, but I don't think they're her favorite. I suggest hand feeding 1/2 of the small frozen bloodworms occasionally with some Garlic Xtreme right from the beginning. It'll go crazy for you then. :)
