BGK laying on its side but still active

hes been laying on his side for the past day or so i just got him 3 days ago i did notices he has a piece of his bottom fin ripped hes small 4" or less i have him with a clown knife, clown loach, and a pleco. i keep a good eye on the tank as much as i can even hours at a time and no aggression has been showed toward any of the fish in there he just minds his own and swims around i do have places for him to hide as well.. what do you think hes doing?? thanks for any info

because i was letting the water acclimate but not adding my water with the store water and the ph was throwing him into a shock so im going to give it one more try and do it that way and see what happens

YEAH THATS WHAT IM GOING TO BE DOING FROM NOW ON I HAVE 4 TANKS SET UP NOW LOL 2 10 GALLONS 1 40 GALLON AND 1 120 GALLON TALL AND IM STARTING TO GET SOME MONSTERS HAHA GAR AND CLOWN KNIFE ARE MY NEW ADDITIONS

Curious, what was the difference in pH between the store water and your water?

maybe a .05 of a point not much the store was 6.5 and im just about 7 why
