I just purchased a bgk about two weeks ago. It was kind of an impulse buy. it's currently in a 125 gallon with a few neon tetras. I have large driftwood pieces covered in java fern that he uses as shelter. Everything seems to be doing well but I was wondering if I could put a powerhead to help increase the circulation? I Like the look of the plants swaying in the current but I don't want to stress out the knife. I'm assuming it would be okay because their streamlined bodies look like they come from faster flowing water.

also, I have been feeding it beef heart, raw prawns, and high protein cichlid pellets. Should I add anything else or is this enough variety?

Thanks to all that reply!!

The BGK will deal with the current just fine. You may want to add earth worms to it's diet. They love them and are fun to feed by hand, though not necessary as his diet already is pretty good.

Thanks for all the replies, I'm going to go order a pump tonight. I was looking online and found some food called "massivore delite" would that be okay for it to eat?

Sounds like you're doing good:thumbsup: I feed mine Massivore Pellets along with shrimp. At 4" you should break up the pellets since it'll be too big for the little fella.

k cool, I already use a pestle and mortar to bust up the cichlid pellets so it shouldn't be a problem.
