I have it in a 30 gal grow out tank right now with an emperor 400 filter on it. He was hiding behind the filter for a while, now it hides between the leaves of a silk amazon sword I have in there....:irked: I'd like for it to use the ghost tube I have in there, but it doesn't seem to show interest in it, or it hasn't gotten there yet? I'm just hoping that eventually he comes out, maybe when he's bigger, he's only about 3 inches now.

He isn't afraid of my hand, he eats frozen bloodworms right out of my fingers. So I'm not sure if he's just afraid of the feeders, the pleco, or the gold ck that's the same size......:screwy:

He is just a baby..and they are somewhat fragile knives at this tender age..glad to hear you have him in his own growout.. i did the same with mine..get some size on him and plenty of good food that he does not have to compete with anyone else for.. he will get more aggressive as time goes by and he is larger..what i did so i could see mine all the time{he thought he was hiding} was place the slate like in the front of tank leaning against the glass towards you like in picture of mine.. he thinks he is in seclusion but he is of course very obvious.. always ... hehe

Liz, I have a couple questions about your BGK

1. How old is it remember see pics when was about 4"
2. What do you feed him/her?
3. How big is she/him?

How long have you had it? Give it some time and it'll eventually find the tube and use it.

He is about about 1.5 years
I feed him Hikari pellets and cat fish pellets and frozen krill and blood worms..
9 inches
the most important thing i found with BGK is growing him out in a tank that he feels safe in..i have had others and they never grew well in hectic community tank.. they need nice friendly tank so they eat good.. and this guy eats great.. but he has nothing to fear..they are big babies and will starve to death if afraid ..

They will get less shy. Mine was always hiding at first. Now he has outgrown his tube and goes where he wants.

that is true.. they begin to get more outgoing when they are bigger.

That's what I thought. I have plenty of plants in there, his fave right now is the silk amazon sword.:naughty: There's plenty of top water cover from plants too. I read ALOT before I buy anything hehe. I bought one of the largest ghost tubes I could find so maybe it's too big for him now.:) I'm really happy about how he's feeding though, so I'm not worried about him. :grinno: He's just so darn cute and I want to make sure he has the best of it all (I guess that's what comes with being a fish enthusiast :D). I have gold ck in the same tank with him, smaller almost than he is, they're both doing well now, but I've heard it's not good to keep them together:confused:. I know they'll need seperate tanks when they get older, but a 30 long should be ok with them at 3 inches right now right? I figure a 280 gal for the ck and my 2 o's, and a 55 for the bgk. If it needs to be bigger I'll get it. Let me know what you all think ;)

tank measurements 72x30x30 inches for the 280 btw
