I am not sure why, but I always thought of BGK as weird, nervous fish that would hide all the time, and only eat live food at night, from what I saw of them in pet shops. Well, I bought one a few weeks ago and what can I say, he is awesome. Only about 4 or 5 inches long, he is not nervous at all. Although I assume he was wild-caught, he ate thawed bloodworms with gusto literally five minutes after I dumped him in the tank, is tons of fun to watch, eats anything (pellets, bloodworms, massivore once it is soft enough to bite off a chunk) and happily takes food from inside my cupped hand, almost burying in. Not sure what took me so long to get one...are they all so great?

I am currently keeping him with my Mbu puffer and a bunch of Neolamprologus marunguensis cichlids but I am clearing a 75 gallon and I am thinking of moving him in there and getting him some SA tankmates. Any suggestions?

The struggle is keeping them alive, mine got sick from a fish I brought home and didn't quarantine. Never again will I skip quarantine new fish no matter what.

I just got a large one after many years of wanting one. They are great.

Mbu puffers are actually the one puffer that is good with tank mates. all others cant stand them.
