Hi,

Next August I will be setting up a "primitive tank" with 60*40*24" (250g if I´m not mistaken).
The stock is being raised in smaller tanks: 5 FLG (between 6-7 and 11-12") and a CK (around 14" and growing very fast) in one tank and a few bichirs, once big enough not to get eaten (already have 2 endlis and a senegal - between 4 and 7" - and trying to get at least an ornatipinis) in another

Recently my regular lfs gave me a 12-13" BGK that someone donated to the store and they couldn´t keep properly. I wasn´t considering getting a BGK but it had a nice size and could barely move in the lfs tank. So after some persuasion by the employees (that I´ve known for years), I took it home. He is currently in a clown loach+fire eel 166g tank.

I would like to put the BGK in the "primitive tank" but I wonder if it will be compatible, specially with the CK. Please consider that enough hidding places will be provided.
If not, he´ll stay with the loaches and eel.

What do you think? Tks

I have kept bgks with cks before and it really comes down to having enough hiding spots and having fish that are used to tankmates, sometimes fish will attack the bgks wiggling white tail, although cks and bgks are completely different types of knifefish and are not inhererently aggressive to each other, best thing you can do is try and keep an eye on them. I wouldn't recommend the senegal though even full size would be a snack if you had a hungry ornate or endli.

Tried to keep BGK with polys in a 180 gal., unfortunately he was attacked by one of the bichirs.

Im keeping 12" endli with 7" bgk without problem - they even share the same hiding place under the root (and im a bit lucky because bgk accepts pellets and growing fast)

250g tank with enough hiding spots quickly become too small for CK because this thing gets massive and needs lots of swimming space..

Bgk usually doesnt leave hiding spots much to cruise around in tank but rather keeps itself under roots..
So when those two (bgk and ck) gets big, you could have prob with size of your tank..
