Yes, no, maybe?

Assuming water parameters are good, would it work if you kept the temperature at around 76F?

As far as temperament goes, I think it would work, but it's the temperature that's got me wondering.

Personally, I wouldn't go lower than 78F, but I know they can tolerate 75F. I'm not going to say that it's good for a long term though. I only had my tank at that temperature for a week while the weather was changing and I hadn't plugged in my heater yet.

I'm not saying to do it, but I accidentally unplugged my heater 2 weeks ago on a friday, didnt realize it until I got back home monday, my tank was all the way down to the lowest temp my little crap stick on thermometer reads, around 65 I think, meaning it was probably lower than that since I keep my window open with an exhaust fan to blow out the humidity from the tanks, and it was in the 30's that weekend and the house heat was off. I was very lucky that none of my fish died, but they sure were moving slow.

I'm fairly sure keeping BGKs at 75 degrees for an extended period of time would be hazardous to their health. However, the pairing itself would work without any bullying.

Ideal temperature for fancy goldfish would be 74-78 degrees. A compromise can work for both in that range.

goldfish just grow faster and swim quicker in warmer water, though about 80 might make them sick. I had some too-big feeder goldfish in with my CK when he was little, they grew extremeley fast until I moved them. Warmer temps seem to speed up their life cycle, goldfish are very adaptable

I'm in the camp that I think a lot of people keep their fish a little too warm... What I've found with my BGK is he prefers between 75-78 degrees F and for some reason he really hates flow... didn't find this out until I quarantined him in a tank with really low flow. They also seem to enjoy sand.
You could do it... but your BGK would have to look at ugly goldfish all day! :)
They're such a cool species they really deserve a devoted tank IMO. Mine is my centerpiece fish for sure... Yeah, I know he hides a lot, SO WHAT!
