my 12 inch black ghost has been going off his food lately. For some time he was eating hikari massivore pellets and once they run out i had him on hikari gold sinking pellets untill one day he just refeused them. After about a wk i got him some more massivore which he seemed to love up untill a couple of days ago. Now he is refusing both pellets i offer to him. Should i just stave him for a few days? i was thinking to get him some fresh prawns or fish tmrw to see if i can get him to eat something. is it ok to feed salmon to my fish?

Try switching up it's diet. If it's still refusing food. I would take a closer look at it to see if there is any signs of stress, disease, and/or parasites.

both good points, but stay away from salmon, it will really filthy up the water. white fish(basa, tilapia, sole, ect) works better, less oily. try worms, my bgks never refuse them

cheers

i forgot to mention that a i brought home a new clown loach about 3 wks ago and he came out in white spot and i treated that by rasing the temp to 30c for 10 days, only some of the other clowns were affected and i think maybe my severum had a couple of spots visibal, i didnt see any on my bgk. In saying that he spend most of his time hiding in his big hollow log untill the dim blue night lights come on then he comes to life exploring the tank. What im trying to say is its hard to get a good close look at him in good light but he is acting pretty normal.
Ohh no just noticed another white spo on a CL....i guess ill just raise the temp again for 10 days

If he's coming out and acting normal, is he eating yet? Have you tried feeding him when lights are out?

he is still refusing both types of pellets even with the lights out but when i was feeding blood worms to my clowns this morning he was coming out of his log in the bright light looking for food, i think he might be ready to eat, ill get him some fish today!
