just wanted to know how you got started in bichir keeping, how your bichir addiction started.

as for me i started w/ 6 P. Sens then bought 2 ornates then soon after got my first P. Delhizi.
then my wife surprised me with a Albino P. Sen, then bought my first P. Endli Endli then my first P. Palmas Polli, my latest purchase is another P. Endli Endli.
next on my list is a Lapradei

well it seems it never stops with one bichir, and yes I am a Bichir Addict
so what's your story?
 
I got mine first Endli Bichir as part of my arowana combo deal. I got a lap, but he didnt get alone with Endli, so he is out, and then i got a ornate, and she is very cute and swims alot.. .I think I am going to get more soon....

Very cool fish.
 
Started with seeing some lapradei in a LFS. Bought 6 and it continued from there. Currently I own 3 endlicheri and 4 laps and hope to add more endlicheri and endlicheri congicus in time.
 
P. Sen is my first Bichir from my freind then i wanted to have an Ornate after almost 5 months i got one then after 2 weeks got a Delhezi and hope to add albino Senagal and Endli ..
 
i found on in my tank... then got a few for free... then i just bought one lol
 
Bought a pair of baby sen. from PetsMart - didn't know anything about them. They kept growing, I fell more in love. That was back when I had one tank. Now I have eight tanks and 19 bichirs, including Senegals, Ornates, P. Buettekoferi, P. Polli, Lapradei, Mokelembembe, Endlicheri Congicus, Endlicheri Endlicheri... More fish ordered coming into the LFS for me end of this week :)
 
my firsts were a pair of senegals almost 3 years ago , then this year i added 7 little senegals to the 2 yr. olds. i also bought an ornate 2 delhezis 2 palmas and 2 albinos but they all died so what remained were the senegals.... i plan on buying other species when i get a bigger tank...
 
How did u lose the other species?
 
First time I saw them I thought they were very reptilian. That's cool. Then I joined MFK. Then a few months ago, there was a Bichir fad...and so I just got an Albino Senegal. It's all because of MFK!!!
 
I was a big cichlid guy, but was bored on MFK, and I clicked this section. Before that, I had heard of, but not seen, bichirs. I thought they were so cool than I needed to have one. In a few weeks I plan on getting a delhezi or senegalus, and that will be my first.
