Hi Monster keepers! I introduced myself yesterday and I've spent the past day and a half looking at all the pictures of your beautiful fish. That being said I have a 55 gallon (grow tank i'll call it) Bichir tank and i'm wondering how well an arowana would get along in it. Are their arowana that dont get huge?
I'm also wanting to show off my fish, but for the life of my i cant fighure out how.. when i click on mhy gallery the site says i dont have access yet. Do i need to make 5 posts to be a monster fish member and have access to post my pics?? Please help!!!

Welcome - You do need to make 5 posts before uploading pics!
As for an aro in a 55.. I wouldn't do it.

There are no small aros, as all species get over 24" in length. At best you may be able to keep an arowana in a 55g for 6 months, of coarse this would be starting with a 3" aro.

Thx! I'm building a 240 gallon ply tank, progress has stalled because i'm having trouble finding a place in my area that'll sell joe homeowner a sheet of glass. Do arowana and bichir co-exist well?

They co-exist great together. Have you checked your local yellow pages for a glass shop?

yes, they get along well, but growth rates are different and you have to get larger-growing bichirs. However, jars have a strong tendency to be very aggressive and may pick on, beat up or kill bichirs.

They get along very well - bichirs are botton dwellers & aros are not!
If you do get an aro a helpful tip is use a ping-pong ball and put it on top of your water - helps with droop eye, always keeps the aro looking up

I have checked with my local glass shops.. not all of course, but so far my luck has been they only sell glass, plexi and lexan the size i need to corporations and contractors. i haven't given up yet!
