this is a my staple poly food. mixture of smelt, raw shrimp, and pellets.

dressed frozen smelt 1lb----------- $3.99 (grocery store)
raw shell on med. shrimp 1lb------ $3.99 (grocery store)
hikari masivore pellets------------- $24.99 (with friend discount)
or sinking carn for smaller polys-- $11.99 (petco)

thaw a small portion of smelt and shrimp (whatever you can feed them in 2-3 days). remove shrimp shells.

dice it up and throw some pellets in (any amount you can afford, since this is the most expensive ingredient. but it is the healthiest) .

stir it up in a plastic container for fridge stroage. now you have BICHIR CHOW.

i also give treats. these may include ..........

* live guppys and baby convicts------ free i raise my own.
* ghost shrimp (quarantine first)
* night crawlers----- $3.64 for 24count ant walmart
* beef heart (rarely available)

Looks yummy! I am making my own VERY similar to that. they love it!

im gonna make some this weekend

I think all the polys in the world would like to come for dinner:D good stuff!

looks good! my polys get about the same thing

ya, mine get salad shrimp, its about the same price per pound, but they are smaller pieces, and then frozen talpia (sp?) fillet, frozen mysis shrimp, frozen blood worm, and brine shrimp pellets and occasionally a worm.

how technical? read the sticky called polypterus primer or something like that.

chances are it gets WAY more technical then you ever wanted.
