whats the best way to bring out the color in our poly friends?

also,different gravel colors bring out the colors.
dark gravel makes em darker.
white gravel makes em bleach out.

Yes, but the people with our UGF have problem with that type of gravel.

agree. also the pattern contrast (for species such as P. endlicheri endlicheri) will also change somewhat as the fish age/mature. And as said, substrate color can affect the color and pattern contrast. dark substrate makes the color dark, white or light substrate washes out the color. For species such as endlicheri and lapradei, the best color substrate is actually red, which can bring out the patterns giving them a great contrast against the base color of the fish.

Dont use UGF. They suck, literally.

Black gravel brings out the color in just about all fish... that aren't black

The black moon sand really brought out the greens in my p.polli and delhezi. But it also darkened them CONSIDERABLY.
