bichir doing a strange thing

today i noticed my bichir started eating the plants hes cut through 2 stems on my egeria densa why could that be?

Hes testing whats food and whats not. Mine will eat algae wafers.

this might be kinda off topic but when i used to have a senegal bichir one of my freinds was fooling around and planted a weed sprout in my tank and while i was telling him to take it out the senegal swam over sniffed it and ate it

mine like to play with any plants i put into the tank. bite it once in a while, dig it up, toss it around. Like a play toy =P

I gave up on real plants for a while after they kept uprooting an amazon sword(so i just let it float turned into a very wierd looking plant doing that) and used silk plants which for some reason kept getting uprooted and moved to one side of the tank seems they built a bichir bunker.I'd move them back and a ay or two later they would be all piled in the same place.Who says bichirs aren't fun lol-Anne

so does mine, he pics them up an swims to a cave to eat them

I have mine with anubias and java fern and java moss. None of them have shown any interest to any of the plants.
