Can I keep my 5"+ Ornate Bichir , 2 6" Senegal Bichirs and a 5" Senegal Bichir with a 5~6" Jardini/Pearl Arowana? Also, can I feed my bichirs frozen brine shrimp, cos I'm thinking of including it into my bichirs' diet.
You could for a little while, but in another couple inches your jar is probably gonna become a killing machine. Some people have jars that aren't too aggressive, but once it gets around 8", odds are that your polys won't be too safe anymore, and who would want to risk any polys?
I don't know if the mix will work, I have read about Jar's being very aggressive.
You can include brine shrimp in the diet of baby bichirs (3" and smaller) but any larger and you're really just teasing them with the scent, and increase the chance of them ingesting substrate by msitake.
Mysis shrimp would be better, but pieces of shrimp, tilapia, earthworms, etc... can't be beat.
Hi, i didn't actually see it happen but my jar's tail fin got shredded to pieces after 3 days of introduction into the tank, my albino sens gang banged on it .. i had to separate them wit a divider in the middle.. thank god the jar is recovering.. kinda slow actually.. good luck!
For the time being, they look rather peaceful together but I can't say for the future... Anyway, neither my bichirs nor my jardini seems to like frozen brine shrimps... perhaps its new to them and haven't eaten before. BTW, one of my jardini's whatever that is that's on its lips seems unbalanced with the other one. Will it recover and grow back to its original length?
I've seen many Jardinis without "moustaches" (WHAT DO YOU CALL IT?) and I don't want mine to be like their's. Anyway, my ornate bichir's tail and fin are a bit tattered after the Jardini's arrival, but I'm not sure if it's done by my Jardini. If a fight broke out, there should be more severe damages, rather than just tattered fins/tail.
