I posted this a couple of years ago, however I was back last weekend so here it is again.

Public Places to view Bichirs

Tyrell Museum of Palaeontology, Drumhellar Alberta.

Wonderfull "Dinosaur" museum complete with a display on prehistoric fishes. There is both a Sturgeon Tank and of course a Polypterus tank.
First pic is of the Header above the tank, the second is of 2 of the 3 inhabitants of the tank. The endi is an old brute at easily over 20 inches. There is a slim 15" ornate in the tank but not in the picture.

It was great to see a crowd of people around the tank appreciating what we all do.

I'll get some pics next time I go, but the Houston Downtown Aquarium has a tall 500g or so (eyeballing it from memory) cylinder tank of bichirs next to the entrance. There's probably about 30 bichirs paddling around-- just awesome to watch. It's mostly senegals, and many of them are 12"+.

Almost worth a trip itself is this 2 plus foot Ornate at Disney's AK in Orlando. 2 plus foot is not a typo---the ornate was massive both in length and girth. My crude measurments put it at 25 1/2". (I am sure people thought I was a little off by my efforts)
