I bought a new delhezi and he is in a grow out with my new ornate.

One of his front fins is bloody... if they get in a tuffle, would the ornate attack and grab a front fin?

I am trying to figure out how worried I should be... aka hoping its just a injury thing and not sepsis. He sims kinda funky so I am thinking it was just a fight.

He just ate, but I don't remember the red fins being there yesterday when I bought him.

Polypterus do have the tendacy to clamp on to other polys' pectoral fins, tailfins, anal fins, etc., when it comes to conflicts and fighting. Polypterus have very powerful jaws, so be warned. Make sure they have enough room and hiding places for safety retreat.

This can also stress out the victimized poly and cause it to jump out. so be sure all the tops and covers are closed up. GL.

Bichirs would grab hold of whatever they can grab hold of....pec fins; tails, anal fins......they tear or shred each others fins during figts; even other fishes...my oscar was harrassing one of my bigger endlies at one point the endlie turned around and bit and tore the oscars fin.....

my 14" ornate bit off my albino sens pectoral fin
i came home and was taking pics and then i see te pic where the albino sen doesn't have a pectoral fin on the right side

i am almost positive they have been fighting with the lights off...

hmmm what to do what to do... maybe two small bichirs is too much for a 10 gallon. hmmmmmm but have no where else to put them unless i risk death by canabalism in the big tank.... baby bichirs are MEAN!
