I am going to get 2 senegals for my 75. I was going to use giant danios as dithers. Will an adult senegal be able to catch/eat them? Or do I need to use something larger?

they are pretty fast, but at full size, the sen will probably eventually catch them

I wouldn't worry about it. Sens are upper jaw species and grow slowly like all polypterids. Giant danios will get 5", sometimes more, so I doubt that a sen could catch one. By the time your sen is 10", the danios will be too big to be eaten. Add a spawning mat and the giant danios will lay tons of eggs. Free bichir food. :naughty:

What kind of sens are you getting? Hopefully some long-fins or albino short-body. ;)

I'm not sure about other types of sens. If they aren't a ton more expensive, I will probably get a more interesting type. I have limited funds at the moment. :(

They are pretty cheap, maybe 25$. Of course, you can get regular ones from Petsmart at 5$ each, but the morphs are much more interesting. Just save up for a while, or sell me that awesome gt.:naughty:

sens really are not slow growers they tend to grow to about the 8-10" mark in the first year for most people then slow down.
That is very slow growth at about 1/2" a month. I consider average growth around 1" a month...
