Bichir for 75 with Midas??

Getting a 75 setup next weekend....I have a 6inch Midas that will be going in there and I would like to add a Bichir. The midas lives with a hoplo and pleco in a 40 breeder now and never bothers them. What if any type of Bichir would you guys recommend adding?

I don't think it'll work, at 6" your midas still has some growing to do and when the reproductive instincts kick in he'll want the whole 75g as his territory.

yeah, that is my main concern.....dont wanna spend the money just to have it killed ya know

I agree.

Just separate the Midas and it would be best if you could get a pair of midas and breed them. Use the babies as feeders for bichirs.

aw man, I cant get rid of the midas....been through too much with this guy in the past year. I can wait on the bichir, guess ill stick with the midas and a few cats until i can get something bigger.

That sucks, but its your decision i personally owned a few midas before my bichirs, bichirs are more fun and more of a character!

yeah i bet they are....my midas has a great personality and is very active, plus since we had her/him since it was barely more than an inch, it would be hard to give up.

but no worries, we get to move next year and that opens possibility of a bigger tank!

I think it depends on the fish. I can keep my barred midas pair with pretty much anything, even other midas (as long as the midas are smaller).
I had my 10" male with a lap, ornate and endli in my 80gl for a while and he never bothered them. I moved the Polys out to move some a-hole catfish in though. Now he ignores the catfish.
