Bichir gills.....

My 4" del external gills are comeing back if that even possible.....? will they go away?

Yeah, depending on the species they can come and go as they grow, but as they get closer to adult sizes they don't seem to grow back.

previously, similar thing happened to one of my bichirs, but when I moved him into a tank with a power head, the gills slowly disappear.

External gills is connecting with oxygen content in water, if its poor oxygen then external gills became longer and if its rich oxygen then external gills became short, but that until the adult age (hehehe I don't know how month). so as u can see in my avatar the gills is long because i don't use aerator and pump.
But that my thinking, sorry if I'm wrong

my bichir is still holding gills at 11" and has enough air for a tank twice as big oh it a delhizi

my delhezi is 5" and his gills are almost 1". i have 2 hobs and a air stone in my tank so there is plenty of air. the smaller delhezi, 3" has almost no external gills. wierd hehe.
