Hello all! I look to pick up a 7" lap. bichir next weekend. I've done some research on'em, it will be housed in a 100gln. with a 5" syn.decorus, two 6" chinese algae eaters, and another 5" fish simular in build to itself. Just wanted to know if laps or most bichir sp. feed on krill, dry or frozen? please somone, thanx in advance!

Feed it siking pellets, market shrimp, krill, earthworms and you will find out what they like the most. I stick to sinking pellets and market shrimps.

Remove the 5" syn.decorus, two 6" chinese algae eaters or any algae eating fish such as plecos. They will suck on the slime coat of your bichir or any ganoid scale fish such as bichirs and gar, It will stress out your bichir or will get an infection and might die. I used to keep a sail fin syn on my bichirs and it kept on rasping on the back of my bichirs. Chinese algee eater is even worst but will soon get eaten as the bichir grows. P. laps can get up to 12-14" in 1 year.
