Bichir ornate

the good news is this sub forum is filled with the most knowledgeable bichir people on the planet and they make me look like a simpleton when it comes to bichirs so you came to the right place. To me it looks like it is most likely an abrasion or even a possible case of heater burn which means just keeping him in a quarantine tank till it heals should work. Since bichirs like to run into stuff make sure there is no sharp edges on the rocks also make sure you have a heater guard on the heater. Some of the more experienced people may see something I missed

I agree in the previous thread I suggested pristine water conditions and removing the rocks until abrasion's heal. Also great advice about the heater guard. ☺

Do you have a spare tank you can set up as a qt ? Would be easier to keep the water clean and watch more closely.

Yoy could treat the qt with salt as well
