At pet smart there Polypterus senegalus for 6.00 at 3" Polypterus senegalus get about 13".

usually the size has a lot to do with the price. Sens are most likely going to be cheap from what Ive seen. They usually dont have much color but are more active and only get up to about 1'. Delhezi would probably be the next most common also not getting massive and i got mine at 3'' for $40. Ornates get much bigger but grow slow, i got mine at 8'' for about $35. Those are just the common ones i see around where i live so maybe you can gauge your price range off of that.
