I've been into the aquarium hobby for a few years now and have learned quite a bit about polypterus. They are a great fish, and have unique personalities. Sometimes when I go to walmart, I see them for sale usually(baby senegalus) and SOMETIMES I see dead ones just laying in the bottom of the tank. This bothers me quite a bit because usually there is noone in the fish department keeping an eye on the tanks so I go ahead my self and fish out the dead ones and carefully bury them in the flower pots in the gardening department. Anyone else as crazy as I am about these little guys? If I had all the money in the world Id buy up the live ones everytime I went just so they wouldnt have to live in such conditions. :wall

LOL you're crazy :screwy:

That'd look too suspicious for me, they'd think i'm stealing their fish lol.

Walmart drives me nuts and I try not to shop there since I am dragged there by my girlfriend. Sometimes I straight avoid the fish department, other times I have to go see. Maybe I'll bring some little treats from home. Lol.

OMFG I HATE ****ING WALMART they had a dragon goby for sale as freshwater. I did not know at first and i waisted 10 dollars on those (i bought 2m, 5 bucks each) Then i saw the same puffers but these are the figure 8 puffers and they are community and they said fresh and i found out brakish. Hate walmart. Once i saw a dragon goby that was dead in the tank and wen i told the guy he said "Oh wow i thought he was just chillin on the ground", sure most stay on the ground but this one had flesh ripping out with its eyes gone! Totally gone (I think that is wat happens wen u put a fish in the wrong water) I WAS LIKE HOLY ****!

my walmart never has dead fish as what i see..i wish they sold bichirs or some others..but anyways your a bit crazy and can be trouble if the person found a dead bichir in there flower pot..

Unfortunaltey, selling dragon gobies and puffers as freshwater isn't something Wal Mart is special at. Most stores that sel fish sell them as such.
yea back in the day my walmart sold dragon gobies..
